2008 Telemark Courses

The NZSIA/Telemark Division offers courses based on the elements of Telemark skiing as developed in New Zealand.

The Stage One Certification Course runs five days presenting techniques for teaching, communication, and skier analysis, as well as demonstration criteria through intermediate turns with pole plants...Telemark Manual, Step 5. Assessment is ongoing, with emphasis on a two hour lesson with real students, led by the candidates on the final day. Time is also spent throughout the course on improving personal skiing skills.

The Stage Two Certification Course is open to current financial NZSIA/Telemark members and covers demonstrations and clinicing skills of upper level techniques including Check-Hop turns, Skate turns, and Carved turns, as well as methods for skiing difficult conditions. Entry to this course is also available to certified Telemark instructors from other countries upon application to the Course Manager and completion of the Stage One and Stage Two Pre-courses. ISIA Certification is awarded after successful completion of this course and also completion of an NZSIA Elementary Coaches Course, an Alpine Skills Course, and a Crossover Course in another discipline. Covering the basics of teaching Telemark skiing, the Telemark Crossover Course is offered to financial NZSIA members from other disciplines in order to fulfill their requirements for ISIA certification.

Registration and full payment must be RECEIVED in the NZSIA office at least 10 days prior to course start date---NO EXCEPTIONS!!!
